Hiya everyone!
EXAMS ARE NOW OFFICALLY OVER. Woo.

They were not that hard for me.. Except for *toootooot-toootoooot* hahahaha. XD

I believe I'll pass all of the tests we had... Except for the subject I mentioned above.

Btw, Sir Arcilla, please make our Physics' Periodic Exam always. Hahahaha. *peace again sir!* I fin Sir Arcilla's test kinda easier... It's also because some of the questions were already given in our summative test. *grins*

Yes, exams might be over... But now's the time to say helloto projects... Time to cram again! Woo! hahaha. I don't know but for most of us, the time given wasn't enough.. We need extension! Like duh, we have more than 10subjects! And we have to fit all of them in our schedule! I know, I know, some teachers gave us more than 1month to prepare.. But then again, we have homeworks to do while the grace period was given! Therefore, we can only do the project IF we have a vacant schedule. :[ Anyway, PATIENCE, edda. PATIENCE. :D

Anyway, as I have mentioned earlier in one of my posts that we only have a few weeks before the school year ends.. And then again, it's not enough for the fourth grading period! Because we have the js stuff.. Blah blah.. But I guess it's okay... Having fun sometimes is not bad right. ;)

Well, working hard is the solution! That's the reason I have to stop this post of mine for this month. Haha. I still got lots of work to do! It's better to finish them asap though they're many. *cram-gc mode*

First of all... HAPPY NEW YEAR Y'ALL!!

It's 40+ min. past last year... Haha... Cool.

It's really odd how time flies so fast...
Yesterday was just like 2007 now it's 2008. hahaha. Ofcourse. XDD

Ha. Only few more days before vacation's over. Nooooo!

I did enjoy the vacation somehow... But I wish it was longer! :D

Anyway, it's a new year. Only 3months before the end of school year. Gawd. I'm going to be a fourth year soon! :l

I had a very busy vacation... Though we had an err... a VERY VERY VERY long vacation, we only got a VERY VERY VERY few projects and homeworks to do... hahahaha.

We had an extension for the comics strip. Cool. Sir must be sick when he said he'll extend the project. Hahaha. *peace, sir* Well, this once in a lifetime opportunity musn't be wasted. Haha.

Since it's a new year... I must aim to improve in Physics. Naks. Hehe. Periodic exams are not that far.. I should try to insert all of the concepts in me that we have tackled. Haha. I don't want to have my grade be lower than the first nor the second grading grade. And I have to maintain 87, atleast, so I can I have my allowance. Hahahaha... XD Well, that actually is not the main reason.. I know I love computing/math-related stuff and sometimes, when the "Katam" sickness hit me, it becomes the reason why I don't like to study that much. It's wrong. I know I should change that. ^-^

Woo. Enough of this! I can't promise anything... But i'll do my best! :]

(This is going to be a long post. XD)

It's the first day of vacation and I already miss everyone so badly. :[

Yesterday, it was our Christmas party. i had lotsa fun!
We had alooooot of food. With too much to share. We shared alot to others but there's still more. XD And about the gifts. lol. Sir Mome, our adviser, was the one who got my name. He gave me this evil stuff toys. He said that i shall see it everytime I wake up in the morning so that i'll remember his gift. Waaaaah. That'll be a nightmare in real life! Wahahahaha. I don't even have the guts to open and show it to my siblings... It was plainly evil, sir. hahahaha. XDD

After the party, we actually planned to go low-budget and just go to bay walk. But then, we changed our plan and we went to Robinsons! We first went to play billiards.. (Me, Karen, Deyzel, Ena, Floriane, Jio, Jherie, Larah & Marie) We all didn't know how to play! But if you only saw our pictures, we looked like we played like a professional. XD After that, we went to starbucks. *rich kids* haha. We had some girl talk then we went to G-box.. (woah. It rhymes with starbucks. XD) We went there just to go to a karaoke room. Haha. (We spent lotsa tokens on that) If you were outside of our room, you'll see "Girls going wild, live!" hahaha. Don't take that negatively, but we actually had so much fun on that room that we sung together so ~~noisily~~ harmoniously! lol. XD We got straight scores of 100 except when TABAL came. He broke our record cuz' he's grade was only 85. Haha. (Btw, lois and ron was also with us by that time) We had this "fave" song entitled: Survivor by Destiny's Child. It was the line I said while I was trying to hit the ball while we were playing billiards. haha. (what a coincidence) what's more funny with that song is that, we don't know the lines that well, and the song was too fast.. So we sing it by saying "nanana" with the tune of the said song. haha.

This day was a very memorable day for us.. We had realized some stuff that we actually do misunderstand someone sometimes... :] But true friendship will come if you learn to understand each other inspite of your difference and moments of misunderstanding. :]]

I miss them all already... It was only these past weeks that we really had a chance to have a bonding with each other... Ptolemy is going strong. That's what's happening in our class. :] I love you all. <33

What a ~~fine~~ day! :
Hehehe... I'm so tired! Just got home from our school's event: family day.

But before I tell you stuff about that, I'll tell a brief story of what we did last night!
My section, Ptolemy, went to Star City! Weeeeeee! 24 out of 31 students in our class joined.. (for those who did not join, men!, you missed half of your life. bwahaha. We had lotsa lotsa fun and an ADVENTUROUS night! I did enjoy it. It was also Marie's blow out together with Karen's late blow-out. *rich kids* heh. <3

Here are some lines from our trip to Star City!:
Ptolemy: *Shouts* "Waaaaaaah!" (While visiting Peter Pan which is not a haunted house. XD)
Ptolemy: *Sings the birthday song* "Happy Birthday Marie..." (While riding the Viking. XD)
Ptolemy: *Shouting Evilly* "Adams Bading.. Adams Bading!" (While riding Surf Dance after riding the Viking... Gempes was the only one who didn't dare ride the Surf Dance cuz' he got SO dizzy with the past ride we had. XDD)

And lotsa more.. :]

Because of our very special trip to the Star City, we were so tired that some of us didn't come to school for the field demo. haha. And as for me, I was late, but I was just in time when I arrived at school.. After a few minutes when I arrived, the field demo started. (Talking about luck. :])

Another news from our section is that, WE WON 2ND PLACE IN THE CAROL FEST!!
Woo. Yep. That's right. There were some complains about the result. But hey, we followed the rules and you didn't. It's not our fault. ;] We were shocked when our section was called in the second place... It's just that we had ALOT of arguements few minutes before the contest started. heh. <3
But because of that, we were bonded to each other more. Awww. How I love it.

There's more to share. But this post is too long enough. XD

We have a summative test on Monday! Noooooo! :(
Well, i'm not that scared actually... *evil laugh*
I actually understood the lesson. Computing sometimes is fun. Hehehe.. :D
But then again.. I'm NOT GC. It's just that I learn ~~fast~~ just well when it's about Math. :DD

Eek(the shorter version of Eeeek. haha.) We also have lotsa project in Physics to finish... The motor and the comic strips... *cram mode*

Series and Parallel Circuits. o_O

Well, this is something usual for me..
As I have told you before, i'm usually busy during Saturdays and Sundays...

The main reason is that, every Saturday, I go to our church and rehearse for our service the next day.. :] It's an honor for me to be a back-up in our church's music ministry.. It's something I would never let go inspite of our school's busy schedule. ^-^

Anyway, back to school stuff..
We really did have a busy schedule... Waaah. I still want MORE VACATION! hehehe. :D

In our physics class, we discussed more about calculating volt and current in a parallel/series circuit.
We had an activity and it was fun! Hehehe.. (It's because, Edgar is there. Pwahaha. Just kidding!)
Well, my groupmates were very active... There was even a time when we where really confused what's wrong with our set-up cuz' the resistor was not working! (well, I was actually the one who thought that the resistor was not working. XD) Eventually, due to our tired eyes, we weren't able to see that I actually placed the other end of the resistor to the wrong line. XDD (I actually liked this hand-on activity.. The things we used were cool. Though we didn't use the "joystick" look-a-like stuff, I still liked it. hahaha.. it looked so cute. XDDD)

When we have activity, we have always had fun because we get to bond with each other... Edgar usually tries to pull off a joke though it's kinda corny, we still laugh... Then ideas will just pop out in our minds.. XD We usually finish our tasks. But we're not gc. lol. Though there's nothing bad about being gc... But, really, we're not gc.

Gawd. I forgot to mention that it's a new grading period for us. I'm happy because our schedule is getting less hectic than the past few weeks. (Hopefully, with this post, i'll be able to make-up with all my short posts. XD) Our report cards were already given.. And as usual, my parents weren't there to get it. (I don't want to bother their jobs.. They're uber busy) So it's okay because Sir Mome has no choice but to show it to me because I need to have it photo-copied so that i'll be able to get my allowance. ;)

My grade in physics dropped by two points... Nooooooooooooooooooo!
There were actually some errors on my grade, our teacher, Sir Mendoza, PROMISED to add it in my next grading period err.. grade. (yuck. It's redundant.) XDD

Anyway, I believe it's never too late for me to improve my grade in Physics... I do enjoy Physics sometimes.. *trying to be optimistic* XD

I guess this is enough for now... ^-^ I still need to make our paper in physics that's needed to be passed on Monday. XD *Physics paper mode*

Today is MaSci's 44th foundation day! And i'm so excited!

Hmm.. I was excused last wednesady, 09/26/07...
Cuz' I needed to attend our pratices in "Grease"..

So, I missed some lessons in physics... and a quiz.
We reported back last friday, 09/28/07
Then our teacher just gave a small review and we had a quiz! OMG!! :(

My score is kinda low but atleast it's not 0.. O:)

I think I should try not to miss any of my physics class.. Haha.

But then, i'm excited in our "Grease" presentation..

Well, i'm sorta happy today cuz' I got an almost perfect score today in our quiz. :D
But kinda disappointed cuz' these past few quizzes of mine, I have been gathering a couple of perfect scores. Heh. <3

Anyway...
Here is an over view of what we discussed today:
Nuclear fusion is the process by which multiple atomic particles join together to form a heavier nucleus. It is accompanied by the release or absorption of energy. Iron and nickel nuclei have the largest binding energies per nucleon of all nuclei and therefore are the most stable. The fusion of two nuclei lighter than iron or nickel generally releases energy while the fusion of nuclei heavier than iron or nickel absorbs energy; vice-versa for the reverse process, nuclear fission.

Reaction(w/ some Discussion) Paper in Physics:

I kinda enjoyed the Exhibit held last Friday, September 7, 2007. I best like the “electric flow” part.. That’s the time wherein the whole class held their hands together and as the crew of the exhibit rotate the handle of the “electric vault”, we experienced the electricity flowing in each one of us who’s “in” the circle. I also like the symmetry mirror.. They said it was used as an “effect” that will make a person look like he/she is flying. What they did is that there’s a big mirror in front of us, then one of the crew will place half of his/her body behind the other side of the mirror leaving the other part of our symmetrical body viewed and producing a whole body cuz of the reflected image on the mirror.

Next is the “Too high and too deep well” HA! I forgot its name. XD …Well, you place your head inside a box with mirrors in top and in bottom of it. Then when you look down, you’ll see that you’re looking through a really-really-really deep well. And vice versa. It’s simply because the 2 mirrors keeps on reflecting and reflecting each other which gives a view of endless tops and bottom.

Another part I liked is the “Shadow Trapper”, what you do is that you go inside a small cubicle, then inside you’ll see a sheet of phosphorescent paper. Then for a few seconds a light bulb is lighted then you strike a pose you like. When the light bulb is turned off, you’ll see that the phosphorescent paper has formed a black image copying the pose you portrayed. It’s because the rays of light that was emitted by the light was blocked by our body producing the “shadow”. Also, the more seconds/time you spend blocking the light, the darker the “shadow” will be.

Another part of the exhibit is the “Floating Globe”. Magnets were placed in the opposite poles of the globe, then with right space and pulling of the two other magnets that stands as the holder of the globe and eventually, the result is that the globe will float. Speaking of globe, there’s a part in the exhibit wherein there’s plasma (the Plasmas are the "Fourth State of Matter" because of their unique physical properties, distinct from solids, liquids and gases. Plasma densities and temperatures vary widely.) placed inside a clear circle glass globe and when you place your finger on it, there is this electric-like current that follows your finger. It’s harmless and fun. :)

Last on my list is the Zoetrope, It is the “wheel of life”. When you place a strip of drawings inside the zoetrope's drum, spin it and look through the slots, you will see the images come to life. Of course, they are not really alive. This illusion of motion depends on two things; persistence of vision and the phi phenomenon. There are other parts of the exhibit that I didn’t mention here. But they’re sure quite kinda fun and informative. ;)

Last thursday, august 30, 2007... We discussed more about nucleus... Here are some of the definitions:
Gravitational - always attractive; determined by mass.
Electrical - maybe repulsive or attractive; determined by charge.
_*weak and strong*_ - nuclear forces; attractive.
Atomic # - same as # of protons; charge
Mass # - sum of protons + neutrons.

We also learned more about alpha, beta, gamma, positron and negatron..

And as usual, we had a quiz.. My score is a lil' bit lower than my previous quiz... But it's fine.
I'll improve. ^^,

Hehehehe.. Yes.. I guess I was inactive for awhile with regaurds of posting here in my blog.

But, I'm STILL complying with the stuff needed for this blog so i'll just continue. :)

Well, we had a quiz today about radiation again...
I forgot the date of our first quiz but i'm sure this is our second quiz..
My score's not that bad. ^^,

I'll define to you some of the definitions we encountered in our last two quizzes..

RADIATION- energy travelling through space.
ALPHA- consists of two protons and two neutrons and has the least penetrating power among ionizing radiation.
BETA- ionizing radiation that can penetrate 1-2mm of human flesh.
GAMMA- thick layers of concrete, lead or water are used as protection from this ionizing radiation.
HALF-LIFE- Time needed ofr half of the unstable isotope to decay.

As I said, those terms were only SOME of the definitions.. There are 20++ more. :D

I'm kinda happy about my first two quizzes scores... I'll try to maintain it as much as I could. :)

Let's first have some word-study. Hehe.

Fiber optics (optical fibers) are long, thin strands of very pure glass about the diameter of a human hair. They are arranged in bundles called optical cables and used to transmit light signals over long distances. Some can be made from plastic.
Core is a thin glass center of the fiber where the light travels
Cladding is an outer optical material surrounding the core that reflects the light back into the core
Buffer coating is a plastic coating that protects the fiber from damage and moisture
Jacket is an outer covering of the cables composed of hundreds or thousands of optical fibers arranged in bundles in optical cable.

Optical Fibers has two types:
Single-mode fibers have small cores (about 3.5 x 10-4 inches or 9 microns in diameter) and transmit infrared laser light (wavelength = 1,300 to 1,550 nanometers).
Multi-mode fibers have larger cores (about 2.5 x 10-3 inches or 62.5 microns in diameter) and transmit infrared light (wavelength = 850 to 1,300 nm) from light-emitting diodes (LEDs).

Plane Mirrors:

The animated image shown above is a way to get the object but here's my version:
1. First is to get two incident rays from a point of the tip of the image.
2. Get its reflected ray by applying law of reflection
3. Extend the two reflected rays.
4. Locate the intersection of the extension of the two reflected rays.
5. That intersection'll be the tip of the object.
6. To have the complete object, repeat steps 1-5 but instead of the tip is a point in the bottom of the image. Finally, connect the two intersections.
(You now have your reflected image!)

Concave Mirrors:

Reminder: For less confusion, place an arrowhead upon each ray created to indicate its direction of travel for steps 1 and 2.
1. Pick a point on the top of the object and draw two incident rays traveling towards the mirror. The first incident ray must be parallel to the principal line and the second ray must pass the focal point.
2. Then, reflect the two incident rays as they hit the mirror by: Making a reflected ray passing back through the focal point for the first incident ray. For the second incident ray, make a reflected ray that will produce a ray parallel to the principal line.
3. Mark the intersection of the two reflected ray. That will now be the top of the object.
4. To have the complete image, repeat steps 1-3 now picking a point at the bottom. Connect the two intersections with a vertical line.

Convex Mirrors:

Reminder: For less confusion, place an arrowhead upon each ray created to indicate its direction of travel for steps 1 and 2.
1. Pick a point on the top of the object and draw two incident rays traveling towards the surface mirror. The first incident ray must be parallel to the principal axis. The second incident ray must pass through the focal point when the second incident ray is extended.
2. Get the reflected ray of the first incident ray by connecting the intersection of the first incident ray and the mirror with the focal point. (You can extend the ray as much as you want/need.) :] Now, get the second reflected ray, by getting the intersection of the second incident ray and the mirror then make a line parallel to the principal line passing through it. (You can extend this ray as much as you want/need too.) :]]
3. The top of your image will be the intersection of the extension of the two reflected rays that you created.
4. To have the complete image, repeat steps 1-3 now picking a point at the bottom. Connect the two intersections with a vertical line.
(You now have your object/complete image!)

Well, the results of our test was announced at our physics time today..

I got __ out of 70. (Just fill in the blank) Wahaha.

Hmmm... I don't know. Maybe I was not focusing enough.

I wonder how hard our next lesson will be. Wah. :(

Well, this is one of the best day in school ever! Hehe.

Our class starts(our scheduled time every Friday) at 7am-2:20pm...

And guess what? We only had 40min. of REAL class out of it! Hahaha. XD

Math Seminar -> I loved it so much. We studied some techniques to solve math problems waaay easier. I even won a "Number 18 Card Game" which is worth P125.00(eeek. The price of the item that we won has a price tag. >.<) [and if you noticed, we exceeded 10min. :p] 2:30pm onwards = GIMMIK TIME!!! (That includes jio's birthday blowout at KFC. Yummy!)
and time for me to play OL comp. games(LoH)! And ofcourse, a time for me to edit this blog and my friendster account. :D ..This is also the time for me to have a complete rest. :)

Calculating Intensity:
I=P/A

*P - is the power, the rate of energy transfer

Calculating Intensity Level:
Threshold of hearing:
0.000000000001W/sq.m - faintest = 0dB
Threshold of pain:
1W/sq.m - loudest = 120dB

Steps to Locate the Resultant Vector Using the Component Method.

The component method is more accurate compared to the graphical method but it takes more of you and it eats you.. Hehe. I mean it takes alot of patience from you and it requires you to have the ability to manipulate basic math. :)

Here are the steps:

1. Prepare a scratch paper and a pencil(highly recommended. :p)
2. Make a table with three columns: vector, x-component, y-component
3. Locate the middle tiangle in the school lobby.
4. Then, look for X and Y components using the trigo functions.. (SOHCAHTOA)
5. Find the sum of x and y components. Then calculate for the average. :)
6. Finally, to be able to calculate your magdnitude, use the pythagorean theorem and for the direction, use the inverse tangent function.

..That's all there is to that(for me)! :)

Uhm, before I post the steps on how to find the resultant vector by using the component method, I just want to tell you about what happened in our physics class yesterday. :D

Well, when I'm about to arrive at the fourth floor, I saw Mr.Mendoza in a serious mode for the first time! Hahahaha! -peace sir!- He was waiting for our arrival because...

..we're late. Well, atleast, for the first time. :D We arrived 15min past our scheduled time in physics.. And the weird thing about me and my classmates is that we're like walking on the moon! Except for Leandro that is, who almost slipped at the stairs. :p

Finally, i'm back but i'm still sleepy! Hahaha. :D

The Graphical Method is easy(?) hehe. But, it's not that accurate.

Here are the steps:
(FYI: these are based on my own words. :p)

1. Scale the measurements depending on what you want and what you need.
2. Mark a point of origin.
3. Determine the direction and the angle of the vectors.
4. Draw the given length of the vectors applying its direction and angle. (Always remember that the head of the vector is always the tail of the next vector to it.)
5. Then, connect the tail of the first vector and the head of the last vector.
6. Measure its length and don't forget to determine its angle and direction.
7. Finally, convert the used scale to the original conversion of the measurements.

...Ta-da!! You now have your resultant vector! :)

Well, somehow, things are like that because..

1. We were asked to solve something in a given time and we were not able to finish it. (Because we were used to "Sir/ma'am extend paaaa!") :)
2. We were able to understand the lesson but we don't know how to apply it.
3. We're still adapting to the "tiring" life of a 3rd year student in MaSci. ;)
4. We were not listening at all because were looking at _________. Hehehe. :D
5. We were not able to understand the lesson and we're afraid to ask questions.
